As a Correctional Officer, you will oversee and care for inmates while ensuring rules, policies, and procedures are applied fairly and consistently. Responsibilities: In this role, you will: Supervise and monitor inmates in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas. Coordinate inmate movement, conduct counts, and provide emergency response as needed. Ensure program activities are safe and supervise labor crews. Conduct shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items per policies. Maintain daily logs on inmates, including disciplinary reports. Provide prompt assistance to injured, ill, or traumatized individuals. Report maintenance or repair needs to keep the facility clean. Qualifications: Minimum requirements include: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: College coursework in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or related fields. Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity is a plus. Must possess applicable state requisites for employment. Ability to work overtime and handle physical and mental stress. Reliable attendance and physical alertness on any shift. Ability to work up to 16 hours within a rolling 24-hour period. Work experience in a correctional setting is preferred. May require a valid state driver’s license. Mature, flexible, able to command respect and confidence, with high tolerance for stress.
